It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jerry Wesley Mercer announce his passing at his home in Grand Falls- Windsor on April 26, 2024, at the age of 68. He was predeceased by his mother, Ada Stuckless (Mercer), baby brother Jimmy, mother-in-law, Patricia Tulk, father-in-law, Ronald Tulk, sisters-in-law, Genevieve Eveleigh and Blanche Tulk, and brother-in-law, Ronald Tulk. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Donna, sons Jerry (J.J) (Crystal) and Sean (Emily) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn his father, James Mercer, brother Barry (Edith), sisters Debbie Howse (Tim) and Joanne. grandchildren, Taylor, Ryder, Jeremiah, Hunter, and Maverick, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Pittman (Donald), Patricia Card (Les), Judy Saunders (Clayton), brothers-in-law, James Tulk (Dorothy), Harry Tulk (Linda), Sean Tulk (Traci), and Oswald Eveleigh (Gen); as well as a large family of nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles, and cousins. Jerry was a wonderful human being. Throughout his life, he helped many people. He took part in the motorcycle Ride for Sight. He was a Scout leader, CB radio enthusiast, and also learned and then taught the Susan Barton Program to young children with dyslexia. He was forced to give up work early because of serious trouble with his back, in which he had numerous surgeries. He then began the long and heartbreaking road of heart trouble and went through many trying times of surgeries and emergency trips to the hospital. Throughout all of this, he kept his spirits high. He raised a family, learned new skills, and stayed as active as humanly possible. He taught his boys all the necessary skills around the mechanics of cars. He would always find the problem as to why a vehicle wasn’t working and guide the boys on fixing it. He painted many a car or truck for himself, family, and friends. He also became interested in computers. He taught himself, becoming a whiz at fixing computers and almost everyone in town would bring their computers to Jerry to identify and fix the problem. His love for the cabin at West Pond would shine through when he would talk of all the wonderful childhood memories he had with family. When he started his own family he bought land there and built his own little piece of heaven where he started making his own memories with Donna, J.J and Sean; later on to be shared with his beloved grandchildren. Jerry will be missed by a lot of people, but especially by those who called him husband, dad, poppy, son, brother, brother-in-law, cousin and friend. God bless you, Jerry.

Her involvement will not be detailed as per her request, that was left to us, and I quote: “No reference to career, achievements, involvement in activities, church and community. Leave that to people who make a tribute.” She will be missed. Thanks to the health care community for their kind assistance during the past number of months.
